Recently, a study was conducted by Purdue University about the affects aquariums have on residents of Alzheimer's units. Fish aquariums were placed in Alzheimer's units of three Indiana nursing homes. The results showed that the fish aquariums helped cut healthcare costs by reducing the need for nutritional supplements and medications that help calm disruptive residents.
