The  hippopotamus is sometimes equated with the Behemoth of the Old testament. In Eqyptian symbolism it represents the Great Mother, Amenti, the 'bringer-forth of the water'; Taueret, the hippopotamus goddess, signifies bounty and protection.

These sculpture are made from soapstone, each highlighting the various shades of the rocks they were hand carved from. This pieces represent the hippo while they are laying in water. Each sculpture is hand carved and is it an original. Each sculpture is different. Measures approximately 3.75" x 2"
